1969 Pontiac GTO in Racine - Estimated Value

Postby jake21 on Fri Feb 29, 2008 10:37 pm

I have a 1969 GTO that I purchased 20 years when in high school. It was in pretty bad shape then, but the car has been in storage in Racine for most of that time.

The quarter panels and trunk bed are badly rusted and will need a lot of new metal. I purchased a new bumper and trunk lid about 15 years ago. It has the Endura front end, but no hidden headlights. The seats were removed and stored in my garage attic, but it is likely that squirrels have used them as a nest for a couple of years. Basically, the vehicle would need to be professionally restored by someone with a lot of know how in order to ever look great.

If there are any car restorers in Racine I would appreciate knowing what they think a fair value is for this vehicle and what is the best way to advertise it. I know that there are probably a few people still out there that would love to restore this classic muscle car.

Thanks for any advice offered. I will post a pic or two if anyone is interested.

Jake,

Does your Goat have most of the cosmetic parts like GTO letters on front fenders and chrome strips along windows? Also what type of engine does it have?

It sgot the standard 400 4-barrel carburator. I have all of the GTO symbols and window chrome. Most everything is original or from another 69 GTO/Lemans/Tempest.

You better get that Goat restored and on the road before gas hits 10.00/gallon or we run out of gas. But then I guess we will all be driving goats. :D

The value of a vehicle like this will fluctuate greatly with connecting to a person looking for this vehicle. Obviously ther are very few 1969 Pontiac GTOs still around and unfinished. I'd say the value is between $1,000 and $3,500 as you describe with no special options or parts. If you have say a rare Ram Air option it would be worth much more.
